The Rain Forest at Moody Gardens
Galveston, TX

BIOS created the original Master Plan for Moody Gardens, and served as the exhibit designer for the first project - the Rain Forest Pyramid. This exhibit is a one-acre tropical conservatory in a glazed pyramid designed to exhibit the rain forests of Asia, Africa, and the American Neotropics. Within the Rain Forest, a Japanese tea house and a replica Mayan temple were designed and constructed to house special exhibits. Living tropical waterways contain tropical fish and invertebrates, while free-flying birds and butterflies enliven the canopy.

BIOS developed the concept and master plan, and we designed the landscape, planting plans, irrigation and soil systems, the visitor pathways and circulation and provided the interpretive and informational packages.
