Dauphin Island Sea Lab
Dauphin Island, AL
Dauphin Island Sea Lab is a unique coastal marine education facility that we designed for K-12 marine sciences teaching and as a visitor facility for the lab and its coastal/estuary teaching site.
The facility features Gulf Coast marine habitat exhibits in a flexible teaching space equipped with movable and changeable graphics, display tanks, and teaching furniture.
BIOS designed and constructed the exhibits with an emphasis on flexibility, economy, and overall adaptability to a changing owner program. The site was developed with a wetland restoration and a unique “snorkel” water intake system that allows for intermittent water acquisition from a silted, active channel.
